It Is What It Is
Today. Today was supposed to be the day. We’ve bought the boat. We’ve done the work. We’ve said goodbye to our car. We’ve said so long to the friends we have made in the last 78 days. We’ve said our prayers. It’s just us, and our amazing Happy Destiny. Today, was suppose to be the day that we tossed our lines and began our adventure.
But, no.
It has been raining for days! We have done enough research that we know when to stay put. It just really sucks because we are really ready to get the hell on our way. We had a plan to go to Fort Meyers. We had a marina picked out for the night. We had a float plan for the next day too! But instead we are going to be grateful for our day today. We took the canvas off the top of the boat and put waterproofer on it. We had found in our trip to the boat yard that the canvas was not waterproof. It rained so hard there, and most everything got pretty wet. We are hoping this will help a bit. This is what a rainstorm here looks like.
So, as you can clearly see, we aren’t going anywhere today. It’s all good though. We are safe in our slip, and we will leave when it clears up.
Friday we took our car to Miami and left it with Peter and Giselle. They will foster it until we return from our journey and get to a place in our life when we will need it again. We are grateful that they are doing this for us. Seriously though, it’s pretty weird not having a car. Uber will be our new best friend. From what I’ve read and researched, a lot of marinas along the Great Loop have “loaner cars”. If you stay with them they allow you to borrow the car to go to town for groceries and the like. I’ve read that the Piggly Wiggly grocery store will actually come to the marina you are at, pick you up, and return you to your boat! Now that’s service! Remember, we also have a dingy. Our dingy is like our car on the water. It will take us from our boat to land, and also allow us to explore on a smaller scale than our boat when we are anchored somewhere. Fun, right!
This was a very special moment. ⬇️
This moment, not so nice ⬇️

Jim and I are doing well. This life we have chosen is pretty darn awesome. Even though we haven’t gone anywhere except for the boat yard, we have been so many places and seen so many beautiful things in the last 78 days. We really are living the dream!
Until next time, we thank you for peeking in on us and hope you are doing well!
Enjoy the next minute of a Sunset at Nokomis Beach.
