Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Good Evening,
It is Monday, the 30th of July. I just wanted to give you a quick update on our adventures and let you know that we are doing well. Our Trent Severn Waterway journey continues nicely. I am still finding it difficult to upload photos and get a good WiFi connection, so I am going to keep this short and sweet.
The Trent Severn Waterway is just stunning. Everyday, around every corner, lies something beautiful. Canada is spectacular! We are not traveling very far on any given day, because there are so many locks to go through and they take awhile to tackle. One day we only went 8 miles! There is also very shallow water in some places and also, big rock shelf’s, that we must take real care and consideration with. We’ve had some rain and some winds. Several days ago, we actually got hit by a houseboat! OMG! These houseboats are another thing we have had to adapt to. They are weekend warriors, who rent a houseboat and from what we learned do not get much instructions on how to operate them. So, you have a bunch of yahoos, out on this Waterway, going through locks, and generally getting in the way. But, acceptance is the key, and they are having fun and enjoying their holiday! So be it.
We are headed in the direction of the Georgian Bay. That will be our next adventure as we exit the Trent Severn. We hear from locals that “we ain’t seen nothing yet”. The Georgian Bay is evidently stunning. There is, however a few huge fires raging on its shores right now. We don’t know yet how that will affect us. Obviously not as much as it is affecting the lives and property of the people who live there. Say some prayers.
Jim and I have a few great things to look forward to in the next few days. One of them is The Big Chute, which is a railway cart type of locking system. Your boat is lifted out of the water, placed on this cart, taken across a land mass and put back in the water!
I will try to catch up with you all next week. Hopefully I will have a better connectivity spot. Maybe another internet coffee shop will be in my future!
