Drum Roll Please
We are buying a home!
Our time on the Happy Destiny, living on the water fulltime, is going to come to an end. It is not without some sadness, for sure, but all great things have a beginning and an end. It is time for some roots to be planted. We have found a really nice condo, in a sweet little area, here in Osprey, Florida. It has a small boat dock. We will part with the Happy Destiny and find a smaller boat that we can continue to enjoy the waterways, something we obviously have come to love. We will continue to Trudge the Road of Happy Destiny in the RV.
Life just changes. It has for us.
I haven’t written here for awhile. So much going on. Along with this new home deal, Jim and I have volunteered our time at a place called Historic Spanish Point. They run a small boat tour and Jim will Captain the boat and I will give a narrative tour as a First Mate. We both have done the training, and probably will start doing tours at the beginning of August. It’s just a fun thing the two of us can do together, out in our home waters.
With an archaeological record that encompasses approximately 5,000 years of Florida prehistory, this National Register of Historic Places museum is referred to as one of the largest intact actively preserved archaeological sites of the prehistoric period on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
We also had some guests stop in to our Marina. In my last blog, I told you about Renee and Eric, who we met for the first time in Columbus Mississippi. They are Loopers, who were in their way to retrieve their boat, Aquaholic, and continue their journey on their Loop. They are a couple, who are doing the Loop in 5 week increments. They both still work, but love boating! They spend their respective vacations making their way around the Loop. This leg of their trip would take them from Demopolis, Alabama, to Moorehaven, Florida. This puts them in our direct path here in Osprey. They stopped for a night, here, and we enjoyed dinner and a meeting. It was so fun to host them for the night. They left the next morning and as of today, made it safely to their destination with their boat, and most importantly, back to their home in Ohio. Just goes to show you, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Renee and Eric are getting to do America’s Great Loop, while still working!
We also, in the midst of buying a home, are about to hit the road again. We have a trip planned to meet up with our friends Marshall and Judy. We will drive to Bryson City, North Carolina, to go white water river rafting on the Nantahala River in the Smokey Mountains! Then we will head back to Orlando, Florida. My son Mike, his wife Millie and 3 of my granddaughters, will be there to enjoy their family vacation. The girls don’t know Jim and I will be there, so I’m pretty excited about this! They all live in California, and we have not seen them in a while. YAY!
More to follow on our shenanigans soon. Jim and I are making some major life changes. It is all very exciting. Both of us are very grateful and continue to pinch ourselves! We are very blessed.
We hope you are all well and happy and enjoying life. ♥️
