Step One

In the '60s, Sonny and Cher sang, "The Beat Goes on" - and so it does. On August 9, 2017 I shared with my colleagues that I had made the decision to step down from my leadership role at Social Model Recovery Systems, that I was in fact retiring from active duty. I've spent 27 years with this incredible non-profit agency. My tenure included various positions in the organization, culminating in the last 21 years as the CEO.

Although it is not likely that I will be able to emotionally move too far away from the agency, I know that the Board of Directors has chosen my successor carefully and their choice has all of the skills, both soft and hard, to continue the vital mission of Social Model. All our love, Bruce

This "I thought it would never come" day, appears to be a giant step forward as Kim and I continue with our plans to join that peculiar group of folks boating on the Great American Loop. Kim's mantra, "Quit your job, sell your stuff, and live on a boat" is 1/3 of the way closer to becoming reality.
