All Is Well In Our World

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! We hope you have a “SPOOKTACULAR” day!

We have lived in our new home for a few months now, and the two of us are very happy and content. I still walk around our home and just can’t believe I get to live here! We are getting acclimated to life on land and to be honest, it’s not that hard.
We have moved completely off the Happy Destiny and she is now for sale. Our plan, as stated before, is to sell her and acquire a smaller boat to put on the dock here at our home. Selling a boat is a process, not an event. Although she is priced very well, a boat is a luxury item and not everyone who wants to buy a boat, wants to spend a large amount of money for one. We have it listed on the Great Loop sites, hoping that someone who plans on doing their own loop, will be interested in purchasing her. The Happy Destiny has most everything a looper could possibly want. Lots of room, storage space, Diesel engines and updated electronics. She’s ready to do it again, and I’m quite sure the right person will come in the next month or so. If not, we will probably list her with a boat broker who can offer it on more boating sites.
It’s all in Gods hands.
Jim continues to drive for Uber/Lyft, and when asked, says he is still enjoying his time shuttling people around. In Florida, there is something called “Season”. Season is the time of year, when the people called “Snowbirds “ return from their homes up north, where winter is about to start. They come to their homes, here in Florida to spend their winter here, where the weather is perfect. Winter in Florida is beautiful. January through May is when most of these Snowbirds are here. Life in our area, because we are right on the gulf, gets very busy. The restaurants are packed and the traffic picks up. Many more people will be using Uber, because some of these people don’t bring their cars or they spend their days Tiki Bar hopping and don’t want to risk driving drunk! Jim’s business will pick up soon, I’m sure!
We took a week long holiday in the RV last month. Not far from our home is a RV park right at the beach. Turtle Beach, is right on Siesta Key. It’s a small campground and is very hard to get a reservation at. I was able to grab a site there and we went. I sat on the beach everyday and we watched the sunset every night.

The Gulf waters are amazing this time of year. The temperature of the water is about 82 degrees. The weather was so hot and humid, so just being in the water was great. Not very refreshing, but, at least you can cool off a bit! I spent hours in the water! I’m a mermaid!

Jim and I also celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary at the end of September. We went to a lovely dinner at a beautiful restaurant on the beach.

I’ve shared before how Jim and I signed up to volunteer as Captain and First Mate, on a small boat, at Historic Spanish Point. It’s a fun little boating adventure where we take folks out for a hour tour of the Intercoastal Waterway around the point. Jim drives the boat and I give a narrative presentation to the passengers about the Spanish Point history, the birds we see, the Mangroves and their importance to our shores and I point out some of the sites, like Steven King’s home and the home of Dicky Betts, a guitarist from the Allman Brothers. It’s a fun little trip and both of us are enjoying our time on the water.

The Magic

This is the little Magic Boat. It’s a small little replica of the original boat that was destroyed in a hurricane in 1921.

There are plans in the making to enter her in a Christmas Boat Parade for some Spanish Point exposure. This should be a fun adventure!

So, all in all, Jim and I are doing well as we navigate our life after the Loop. I miss living on the Happy Destiny, but rest assured, I’m very happy in our new home.
Our house, is a very, very, very fine house.
